How do we hear God's voice? We hear God's voice through Scripture. We hear God's voice in our daily prayer. We hear God's voice in the fact that I am maintaining a relationship with Him through the Jesus Prayer, through fasting, through the attending of the liturgical prayers. All of these things allow me to be able to hear God's voice.

When He whispers or even when He elevates His voice and He screams, I will be able to distinguish God's voice in His movement within me. Through the Holy Spirit that dwells inside me, the conviction that the Holy Spirit has within me, I'll be able to distinguish when He is trying to speak to me only if I'm accustomed to constantly sitting at His feet.

But if I am not accustomed to sitting at His feet, if I have not been eagerly looking forward to hearing His voice, if I have not indulged myself in truly bathing in His glory, allowing myself to have that proximity to Him, then how can I ever expect to recognize His voice when He tries to speak to me?
