One of the old men paid a visit to another old man and the latter said to his disciple: Make us a small dish of lentils. So, he made the lentils and moistened some bread. And they continued talking about spiritual matters until noon the next day.
Once again, the old man said to his disciple: Make us a small dish of lentils. And the disciple said to him: I made it yesterday. So, they stood up and tasted the food.
Another old man paid a visit to one of the old men. The latter boiled some lentils and said to him: Let's pray a short office. So, the one completed the entire psalter, while the other recited the two great prophets by heart.
When morning came, the old man who had made the visit left and forgot about the food.
